Critical care is the specialized care given to patients suffering from life-threatening conditions and requires immediate intensive treatment with close monitoring of the vital parameters. It is also known as intensive care and is usually given in an intensive care unit (ICU) by specially trained health care providers. Monitor, intravenous tubes, feeding tubes, life support systems, breathing machines and other equipments are important requirements in a ICU.
The need for a variety of equipments and constant monitoring by specialized healthcare personnel results in making critical care very challenging and demanding.
